Jim McIntosh,a good friend of Jerry’s from high school days, passed away this last week. He was 59. When Jerry and I began dating in high school I also got to know Jim. He had a great sense of humour and loved to play cards, curl and golf. Jerry curled with Jim in his early years of curling. Jerry and I hung out with Jim and JoAnn when we were dating and then after we were married. Jim and JoAnn, his wife, whom he met in high school, lived in Ontario for the passed 20 some years. He will be missed by his wife, children, and grandchildren. A Celebration of His Life will take place on Monday, March 20th, in Morden, Manitoba.

Today my sister Doris asked me why I didn’t write in my blog any more? She had looked at it to see what was happening in my life. Now, when my sister Doris asks me such a question, I need to take note as she is not one to access the internet on a continual basis, so I need to heed her ask. With that in mind, I am going to try and jot down a short entry every day, just as a diary of what is going on in my life.

So what has happened in my life today. Today is the first day since I can remember that I do not have one appointment in my daytimer…so when I got up this morning I put on the coffee and sat down to a great cup of coffee and the Saturday newspaper. There is no better combination for me on a Saturday morning. Jerry also today off with nothing planned so we decided to take a drive in the country to look at some lots that are for sale in the chance that we might want to build a house…the emphasis is on the word “might”! With Kristy also having today off, we jumped into our ’85 Chrysler and off we went…first to Tim Hortons to pick up some coffee and danish…then off to the country. As we are driving along on this country road which is totally white and the ditches are not where to be seen…Jerry gazing at the lots drives into the ditch and we get totally hung up in the snow. Now we are totally equipped for this with our cell phone at home and no shovel in the trunk. All the houses are vacant as they are just being built and we are way out on a country road. We had passed a house with a vehicle in front so Jerry hikes back to that house…the gentleman kindly lends as a shovel but does not ask if he needs any help…well to make a long story short, we did eventually get out of the ditch with much shoveling and then a kind soul who was driving passed stopped and helped Jerry and I push, while Kristy drove the car. Lots of snow out in the country. We are now back at home trying to warm up and enjoy the rest of the day relaxing!
